The Tabby Awards holds a separate annual competition for business and professional apps, called the Tabby Awards /Business. This competition currently welcomes submissions from app developers and publishers until Friday, July 10 at TabbyAwards.com/business. For the first time in this competition, the Tabby Awards is accepting submissions for smartphone-optimized apps as well as for tablet-optimized apps.
About the Tabby Awards
The Tabby Awards is the most comprehensive awards program honoring the best mobile apps worldwide. Every year since 2012, it has been holding two separate competitions: one for consumer apps and games, another one for business and professional apps. In each competition, nominees and winners are selected among submitted apps by an international panel of independent app experts. Tablet-optimized apps are recognized through Tabby Awards nominations and, starting with the 2015 business app competition, smartphone-optimized apps are recognized through Mobby Awards nominations. The Tabby Awards benefits from the promotional support of several organizations including Applause, ITProPortal, Social Times and VentureBeat.
The Mobby Awards /Business, for smartphone-optimized apps, will now complement the Tabby Awards /Business, for tablet-optimized apps.
New York, May 26, 2015 — The Tabby Awards, the only awards program for the best tablet-optimized apps, is launching its 2015 competition for business and professional apps.
An international panel of 24 mobile experts will review all submitted apps and select, in each category, nominees in a first round and winners in a final round. Apps will be evaluated on a series of criteria in a work-related or professional context.
The panel of independent judges will be chaired by Carson Conant, CEO of Mediafly, a Chicago-based technology company whose solutions enable the distribution of enterprise content across mobile platforms. “It’s an exciting time for companies and professionals in the world of mobile apps and I look forward to examining this year’s vast tapestry of submissions geared toward innovation for the modern business,” said Carson Conant.
Leading app publishers and corporations like Adobe, Autodesk, Box, Brainshark, Citi, Citrix, DocuSign, GE, MicroStrategy, PepsiCo, Philips and SAP won awards in previous competitions.
Introducing the Mobby Awards /Business for smartphone-optimized apps
In its fourth annual competition, the Tabby Awards /Business will, for the first time, accept submissions for smartphone-optimized apps in addition to tablet-optimized apps. Apps submitted in tablet categories will be reviewed on tablets and eligible to the Tabby Awards /Business. Apps submitted in smartphone categories will be reviewed on smartphones and eligible to the new Mobby Awards /Business.

“We are still champions of tablets as a specific device category because their screen size lends itself to a whole different level of productivity which, in many cases, surpass both computers and phones,” said Patrick Pierra, founder and executive producer of the Tabby Awards. “But we recognize that the ubiquity of smartphones, now with larger screens and impressive processing power, also makes them fantastic professional tools. Anyway, most business apps now work on both phones and tablets, either with a universal app or with different versions optimized for each platform. The addition of the Mobby Awards /Business will allow us to celebrate the whole spectrum of mobile productivity while still highlighting apps which are specifically optimized for tablets or smartphones.”
Commercial app publishers and enterprise app developers are invited to review the competition’s categories, judging criteria and submitting guidelines, then to submit their apps at TabbyAwards.com/business.
